1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how SMSHook ("the App"), operated by SMSHook ("we", "us", or "our"), handles information when you use the App. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

SMSHook is designed with privacy as a core principle. The App runs entirely on your device and does not rely on any server infrastructure operated by us. This means your data stays with you.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect, store, or have access to any of the following:

— Your SMS message content. Messages are forwarded directly from your device to the webhook URL you configure, without passing through any server we control.

— Your webhook URL or API configuration. This is stored only on your device.

— Your personal identity. SMSHook does not require account registration, email addresses, phone numbers, or any personal identifiers.

— Your location, device identifiers, or usage analytics. The App does not integrate any analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

— Your payment information. In-app purchases are processed entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store.

3. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is stored only in local storage on your device and is never transmitted to us:

— The webhook URL you configure for SMS forwarding.

— Your forwarding on/off preference.

— Your remaining free forward count (initialized at 5).

— Your purchase status (whether a paid plan has been activated).

This data is necessary for the App to function. You can clear this data at any time by uninstalling the App or clearing the App's data through your device settings.

4. How SMS Data Is Handled

When the App detects an incoming SMS on your device, it constructs a JSON payload containing the sender's phone number, the message body, and a timestamp. This payload is sent as an HTTP POST request directly to the webhook URL you have configured.

The transmission is a direct connection from your device to your endpoint. We do not route, proxy, log, or inspect these transmissions in any way. We have no technical ability to access your SMS content.

5. In-App Purchases

All purchases are processed by the platform's billing system: Google Play Billing (Android) or Apple StoreKit (iOS). We receive only a transaction verification from the platform. We do not receive, process, or store any payment card details.

6. Permissions

The App requests the following permissions on your device, used solely for the purposes described:

— SMS permissions (RECEIVE_SMS, READ_SMS on Android): Required to detect incoming text messages so they can be forwarded to your configured endpoint. The App does not read your SMS history or any messages other than those received while forwarding is active.

— Foreground service (Android): The App runs a foreground service with a persistent notification to maintain SMS forwarding. This is required by the Android operating system for apps that perform background tasks.

— Notification permission (Android 13+): Required to display the persistent notification for the foreground service.

None of these permissions are used for any purpose other than enabling the SMS forwarding function.

7. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not share any data with third parties because we do not possess any of your data. The only third-party service providers involved are:

— Google Play and Apple App Store, which process in-app purchases under their own privacy policies.

— Your webhook endpoint, which is a service you own and control. Data sent to this endpoint is governed by your own data handling practices.

We do not use any third-party analytics services, advertising networks, crash reporters, or tracking tools in the App.

8. Children's Privacy

SMSHook is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

9. Data Security

Since no user data is transmitted to or stored on our servers, the security of your data depends on: (a) the security of your device, (b) the security of your webhook endpoint, and (c) the security of the network connection between your device and your endpoint.

We recommend that you use HTTPS for your webhook URL to encrypt data in transit. The App sends all requests over the protocol you specify in your webhook URL.

10. International Data Transfers

The App operates entirely on your device. SMS data is sent directly from your device to your configured endpoint. No cross-border data transfers are initiated by us.

11. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data, such as the right to access, correct, or delete your data. Since we do not collect or store your personal data, you can exercise control over your data directly on your device by: (a) stopping forwarding through the App; (b) changing your webhook URL; or (c) uninstalling the App.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
